Head of Technical Quality

EURAC Poole Ltd. is recognised as one of the leading grey iron foundries of its type in Europe who specialise in the casting brake discs for the automotive industry.
We currently have a vacancy for a Head of Technical and Quality. This role is responsible for the management and co-ordination of technical and quality problem solving activities within the company. It involves investigating internal and external quality issues and implementing the required corrective/preventative measures. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing teams as well as liaison with customers, so excellent communication skills at all levels is essential. A formal qualification or significant experience in grey iron metallurgy is preferred. This position reports into the General Manager and is offered with competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Management and co-ordination of the Technical Quality Department.
- Management of problem solving activities within the foundry (such activities being documented using relevant internal systems, e.g. Corrective Action reporting (C.A.R.), Process Trials Record, Continuous Improvement and Process Change Log, etc.).
- Investigation of internal and external quality problems and implementation of corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Management of process controls to optimise product quality and to minimise costs, as well as internal and external reject levels.
- Generation and development of internal technical specifications.
- Technical support & direction of the Metallurgists / Electric Melting department.
- To function as a member of the corporate executive team and to contribute to the company vision, mission, and business plan.
- Generation of requisite requests for capital expenditure.
- Drive the companies R&D initiative especially around metallurgical developments in line with Euro7 Legislation.
Measurement Criteria
Analysis and management of budgeted cost centres and of external and internal reject levels to achieve budgets.
Quantified tangible and intangible benefits achieved through continuous improvement activities.
