Brake Discs
Brake discs, also known as brake rotors, are vital components in the automotive industry, serving a crucial role in the braking system of vehicles. These flat, circular metal discs are typically mounted on the wheel hub and rotate with the wheel.
Brake Drums
Brake drums are a crucial component of the braking system in many automotive vehicles, particularly in older or heavy-duty vehicles. They play a significant role in slowing down and stopping a vehicle safely.
Brake Caliper and Carriers
Brake calipers are integral components within the automotive industry, playing a vital role in the functioning of a vehicle's braking system. These calipers house the brake pads and are responsible for applying the necessary force to squeeze the brake pads against the brake discs (rotors).
Differential Cases
Differential cases play a critical role in the automotive industry, serving as essential components within a vehicle's drivetrain system. These cases are typically found in the rear axle and are responsible for distributing power from the engine to the wheels while allowing them to rotate at different speeds, especially during turns.
Backing Plates
Backing plates are essential components within the automotive industry, serving a crucial role in the brake system of vehicles. These flat, metal plates are typically mounted behind the brake assembly, providing structural support and protection for various brake components.
Commercial Vehicle Calipers
Commercial vehicle calipers are robust and heavy-duty braking components extensively used in the automotive industry, particularly in large trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles. These calipers, much like their counterparts in passenger vehicles, are essential for the safe and efficient operation of the braking system.
Camshafts / Balancing Shafts
Camshafts are fundamental components in the automotive industry, playing a pivotal role in controlling the timing and duration of the opening and closing of an engine's intake and exhaust valves. They are typically located within the engine's cylinder head and are driven by the crankshaft via a timing belt or chain.
Industrial Hydraulic Housing
Industrial hydraulic housings are essential components in the automotive industry, particularly in heavy-duty and specialised vehicles and machinery. These housings are designed to enclose and protect critical hydraulic components, such as pumps, valves, and cylinders, which are responsible for powering various hydraulic systems within automotive equipment.
Wheel Flange
Wheel flanges are essential components in the automotive industry, serving a critical role in ensuring the secure attachment of the vehicle's wheels to the axle. These flanges are typically integrated into the wheel hubs and provide a flat, protruding surface onto which the wheel is mounted.
Lanchster Balancing System
The Lanchester balancing system, named after its inventor Frederick Lanchester, is a mechanical engineering concept used to reduce vibrations and improve the smoothness of rotating machinery, particularly in engines. This system employs two rotating masses, often referred to as "balance shafts," which rotate at twice the speed of the engine's crankshaft and in opposite directions.
YOUR GLOBAL PARTNER FOR CRITICAL AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENTS
The MAT Foundry Group has long been established as a global leader in the manufacture of brake related safety components.
Specialising in the machining and assembly of brake discs, drums, housings and more, we are proud to say that a third of all vehicles on Europe’s roads contain parts developed at one of our production facilities.
Components originating from our seven foundries and ten machining plants serve the passenger, commercial and heavy-duty vehicle markets, along with industrial and hydraulic applications servicing the agriculture, mining and power generation industries.
With more than 50 years’ experience, we have become a respected and sought-after partner for critical components, one with the skills and capacity to develop bespoke solutions where required. We support both original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and aftermarket customers, while our clients include major brake suppliers.
All products cast and machined at MAT Foundry are proven to withstand great stress and pressure. The group meet demanding requirements by operating to the highest standards, delivering consistent quality into the European, Asian, Central and North American markets.
